Deborah Niven is an Intellectual Property lawyer, and she joined Fox Hayes in January 2005, following 5 years post qualification experience in Intellectual Property and Commercial Litigation in Leeds and Sheffield.

Deborah specialises in all aspects of Intellectual Property and has undertaken the Post Graduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice. She has particular interest in design right, copyright and trade mark infringement and passing off. Having practical experience of litigation she is able to advise on the best way forward both in terms of limiting costs and negotiating or fighting for the best terms possible.

However Deborah’s experience is not limited to infringement matters. Deborah has dealt with a wide scope of non-contentious issues including advising and negotiating the terms of software licences and drafting trade mark and patent licences and assignments. Deborah is able to assist client’s in the due diligence process when considering the purchase or structuring of a company involving intellectual property rights.

Deborah is a member of the Licensing Executives Society and takes an active role in the intellectual property seminars in the Yorkshire area. Clients enjoy working with Deborah and find her friendly and approachable manner assists in receiving an excellent service.
